I-20 Visa Document Requirements

Financial documentation

Applicants requiring a student visa must document that their educational and living expenses in the United States will be fully funded (more information). Partial grants and scholarships (PDF) are available to international undergraduate students to help with these expenses.

Passport copy

Applicants should submit a photocopy of their passport identity page. The applicant's name on the University of Indianapolis application for admission should match the passport exactly.

I-20 transfer documentation

An applicant currently in the United States on another institution's I-20 should complete the SEVIS I-20 transfer process in order to receive a University of Indianapolis transfer I-20.   The applicant must first be both accepted for admission and approved financially by the University of Indianapolis.   After making a final decision to transfer, the student should ask the International Student Advisor at the current institution to complete a Transfer In Form (PDF) and to release the student in SEVIS to attend the University of Indianapolis.  After being released to the University of Indianapolis, government regulations require that the applicant enroll with us as a full-time student.

Alternatively, an applicant may qualify for and receive a University of Indianapolis initial-entry I-20. In this case, the applicant must visit a United States Embassy or Consulate outside the United States in order to apply for approval to re-enter the United States to attend the University of Indianapolis.
