International Transfer Admission Requirements

Official college/university transcripts

An applicant who has attended a college, university or other post-secondary institution must arrange for these results to be submitted to the University of Indianapolis—even if the applicant wishes to "start over" and not pursue transfer credit. In most cases, an applicant should arrange for official original or certified copy transcripts to be sent directly from the institution to the University of Indianapolis. If official transcripts cannot be submitted in English, an official literal English translation should be submitted along with the official original-language documents.

In counties where it is not possible to obtain original documents for submission, certified copies are accepted. Only officials from the institution issuing the document or U.S. Department of State educational advisors are eligible to certify documents.

The University reserves the right to seek verification of any document. This process may be time consuming. In some cases, the applicant must bear some expense for the verification.

Documentation of English proficiency

For applicants educated in a non-English medium system, official documentation of English proficiency is required. Any of the following are accepted:

  • TOEFL result of 173 (computer-based), 500 (paper-based), or 61 (Internet-based). The University of Indianapolis TOEFL code is 1321.
  • Cambridge O'Level English, CPE or CAE result of C
  • IELTS result of 5.5
  • Graduation from an approved intensive English as a second language program.
Approved programs are Interglobal Indiana located on the University of Indianapolis campus, the American Language Academy, or ELS Language Centers (Level 12 graduation required).
