International Student Costs & Scholarships
United States
government regulations require the University of Indianapolis to verify
the availability of adequate funding for all individuals who require
an F-1 student visa. This funding must cover tuition and living expenses
for the duration of studies. When it is determined that a student is
academically eligible for admission and financially capable of supporting
his/her education, the University of Indianapolis issues to the student
an I-20 form (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status).
The student may use this form, along with other required documentation,
to apply for an F-1 student visa at a United States Embassy or Consulate.
Costs for the upcoming academic year will be annoounced in the spring. Historically, tuition and room and board charges have increased about four percent (4%) each year. If you are applying for the 2008-2009 academic year before actual costs are announced, please submit bank documents showing at least $32,000 in order to cover any increases.

Documentation of Funds
To be considered for 2008-2009 I-20
approval, please submit:
- A completed Statement of Financial
Support form [PDF] from each sponsor.
- Documentation of
at least $32,110 US total in savings, scholarship or approved
loan.
An additional $3,390 must be documented for each dependent
spouse or child who will accompany you to the United States.
Acceptable forms of documentation are listed below.
Acceptable Documents
All documents must be originals, must be accompanied by an English translation
(when appropriate) and must be current (dated within one year of enrollment).
- Bank statement or letter referencing an account in the name of
the student, parent, or sponsor.
- Scholarship letter
stating the amount of funding available to the student each
year and for how many years. (Scholarships and grants awarded by the University
of Indianapolis will automatically be considered part of
the student’s
resources.)
- Loan approval letter
stating the amount of funding awarded to the student.
Additional Notes
- Payment for each semester is due before that semester begins. Students
unable to pay by the due date are not allowed to enroll.
Students who do not enroll, but who remain in the United States,
have violated their student visa status.
- Each student is expected to know
the regulations of his/her government for exchanging and
forwarding money to the United States. Difficulties in this area
do not excuse a student from timely payment.
- The United States government
limits employment of F-1 visa holders. While jobs are available
at the University of Indianapolis, students should not expect
to use employment as a significant source of income.
- Any grants or scholarships
from the University of Indianapolis will be awarded before
a student enrolls. No additional aid can be awarded after a student enrolls.
- The University of Indianapolis does not provide loans. Information
about outside loans can be obtained at www.educationone.com or
www.teri.org. Outside loans require a US citizen cosigner.
- Students are advised to keep copies of all financial documents for
use in the visa application process.
