Important Information for the Potential Student-Athlete

Setting up a visit with the Coach

Coaches work with the Office of Admissions to schedule campus visits for recruited student-athletes. If you wish to meet with a coach while visiting campus, we strongly encourage you to work directly with the coach to arrange an appointment by calling the Athletic Department at (317) 788-3246 or by using the staff directory.

Communication with the Coach

University of Indianapolis coaches initiate and coordinate ALL student-athlete recruitment and scholarship offers. Coaches spend much of their time evaluating top athletes from Indiana and around the world who have the skills to compete at the NCAA Division II level. Please complete the recruiting questionnaire, which will provide the coaches with the information that can help them evaluate your skills. Statistics, tapes, coach referrals, etc. are also important to help our coaching staff assess how you would fit into our program. If coaches are interested in recruiting you or considering offering you a scholarship, they will contact you and let you know. Non-recruited student-athletes who wish to participate are welcome to attempt to walk-on or try out for any of the 21 sports that the University of Indianapolis offers.

NCAA Eligibility

All student-athletes who plan to participate in NCAA Division II Athletics must submit a student release form along with high school transcripts and SAT or ACT test results to the NCAA Clearinghouse. Since the University of Indianapolis is affiliated with the NCAA Division II, enrolling freshman student-athletes are required to register with the Clearinghouse. See your guidance counselor or check out the Web site at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net  for the “NCAA Guide for the College Bound Student-Athlete”.

Financial Aid

Student-athletes should also submit all appropriate documents to be considered for financial aid. The University of Indianapolis encourages completion of the FAFSA and the University of Indianapolis Financial Aid document by March 10, 2008.

Enrollment Deposits

Should you wish to enroll at the University of Indianapolis, you should complete the enrollment procedures by submitting a tuition and housing deposit by May 1, 2008 even if you have received a full tuition athletic scholarship. These deposits reserve your registration appointment and determine your housing assignment.
